Jennifer
Curley
To celebrate Women’s History Month, Dress For Success Washington, DC highlights Jennifer Curley, President and CEO of Curley Company. Jennifer is a business strategist, expert communicator, and passionate entrepreneur who sets the strategic direction for her agency, which has now entered its 20th year. She is inspired to work in Washington, D.C. and to lead in the ever-evolving communications industry. Jennifer also serves as the vice chair of the St. Lawrence University Board of Trustees.
Jennifer’s professional experience runs the gamut. She started her career in the United States Senate as an aide to Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, and she also worked on the 1996 presidential campaign and orchestrated several official events for the 1997 presidential inauguration. During the Clinton Administration, she was a political appointee in the Protocol Office of the White House and Department of State.
The Dress For Success Washington, DC mission has been important to Jennifer for many years. She connected to the organization, starting from when she interviewed for her first job in D.C. on Capitol Hill. She wore a blue suit to her interview, and she says she’ll never forget how powerful and prepared she felt wearing it. Since then, she has been an avid supporter of DFSWDC as a volunteer and offering pro-bono communications services to support the growth and awareness of Dress For Success in the DMV-area.
Check out Jennifer’s advice to her younger self and other young professional women.
This biggest piece of advice I have, and what I would tell my 21-year-old-self, is really trust your gut. I have found over the years when I do that, it steers me in the right direction. If you can really give yourself the space to think about things, think about what your gut is telling you to do, it is going to steer you right. Trust it, have faith in it, and let it help guide you to where you want to go.
